Chilly dark nights bring kids indoors. Here are some games for fun times at home.
- Shadow Show – pull out a flashlight, turn off the lights, and let the kids make hand shadows on the wall. What animal are they creating?…a dog, a bird, a brontosaurus, a crab, etc. If you want to help get them going, you can search the internet for “hand shadow tricks” or “hand shadow puppets.”
- Sliding Sparks – turn off the lights and slide your stocking feet around the carpet to create static electricity. It is so fun to see the sparks. Touch fingers and get shocked. Our kids think it is cool when my husband and I play along and touch our wedding rings together—they spark. This makes for giggles and fun memories.
- Disco Dance – turn on your kids’ favorite music, grab a flashlight, and then turn out the lights. Have one person take a turn holding the flashlight and shaking it really fast…it creates a “disco ball” sort of effect. Have everyone dance to the music in the “disco” lighting. Laughter is sure to follow.
May your memories be wonderful….
