This is a simple activity that takes very little preparation! Tell your family it is time for “Card Commotion!” Immediately, they are intrigued…
- First, you make a card for someone to send in the mail.
- Second, you play your favorite card game as a family.
Pop-up card idea: First, fold your paper in half and make sure it is going to fit into the envelope. Then cut two equal slits on the folded side about 1/4 of the way in and about an inch apart.
Fold the cut piece to the inside and press a crease. Repeat this three or so times in different places on the fold. Your card may look like this.
Then create figures to be on the pop-ups. Be careful not to make them too tall. Glue on the figures. Let them dry completely before you put them in the envelope. (Stickers also work well.)
You have created a card that will bring a smile to an unsuspecting grandparent or friend! My kids love to make these cards. This would be a great Sunday activity.
