This Alfredo sauce recipe uses crushed red pepper flakes to give it a kick. It is a favorite at our house.
Spunky Alfredo
4 TBS margarine
4 TBS flour
Place margarine in a sauce pan and melt over medium heat. Add flour to make a paste. Then add:
3 cups milk
½ TBS crushed red pepper flakes (if you don’t want your sauce “hot”, then reduce or eliminate this ingredient)
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp restaurant black pepper
Stir with a whisk and bring to a boil to thicken…stirring often.
Add ½ brick (4 oz) cream cheese, softened
Let it heat to soften more and stir it into the sauce until smooth.
Add ½ cup grated Parmesan Cheese. Stir to combine.
Serve over cooked fettuccine. We also like to fry up bite size pieces of chicken to place on top of the pasta and sauce.
Enjoy!
