As I tried to pack men’s size 12 running shoes into our emergency kit, I thought there was no way. It was the shoes or the food…not both! The shoes fill the entire backpack!
What are we to do? Here is our solution: First, we will tell everyone that if there is an emergency they should try to grab a pair of shoes. And second, we will pack flip flops in our emergency kit instead of running shoes. Yes, flip flops. They would be better than no shoes! Flip flops worn with socks (and possibly plastic bags) would help you get by in an emergency.
Flipflops are thin and super cheap. They also fit multiple size feet so they don’t need to be rotated as often.
I can handle a dollar or two for a pair of flip flops. 🙂 Good luck!
