My church* is about to have our General Conference where our prophet and a lot of our church leadership give a message. I have found it very beneficial to give each message a title in my notes. Then I connect the speaker’s name with a certain principle.
As a family it is fun to suggest that our children “title the talk”. Whatever title they think best fits the remarks, is great! My son was telling me how it helps him focus on the speaker so he can give the talk a title at the end. We do the same thing for more local church meetings like our Stake Conference. After the meeting, we sit around and discuss the messages we heard. I love to see what stood out to each family member. Their titles may be similar or they may not, but regardless, each person listened and learned what he/she needed to hear.
(It is hard for kids to sit and listen for a long period of time, so for smaller children you may want to just have them title one or two talks.)
May we all be inspired to do right.
